Our Story
As two college students at SDSU, we understand firsthand the uncertainty and risk that can come with walking alone, taking rideshares, or simply navigating daily life — especially as a young woman.
We spoke with students across campuses, and we discovered many individuals shared the same concerns. They just want someone to know they're okay — and to have a way to call for help, instantly, if they're not.
That's why we created KOVA — a discreet, two-button safety device paired with a simple app. One button shares your journey with trusted contacts. The other sends an instant alert in an emergency.
Our goal is to make sure that when someone is in danger, their trusted contacts have the right context—location, time, and urgency—so they can act quickly. With just one button, help is on the way, and the people who care about you know exactly how to respond. At KOVA, we prioritize safety when it matters most.
